One of my office-mates will be celebrating her birthday next month. I want to give her something beautiful, because last year I was on a vacation and this time I will make sure that I’m going to make it to the party. Anyway, my wife told me that bags are good things to give for women. Bags nowadays are made beautifully, and they are fashionable items, like those elegant Prada handbags. I also asked my other office-mates about their gifts, and they told me that they will give shoes and dress. From the looks of it, that will complete the “fashion” thing.

For this good idea, there are also lots of good companies that already started doing it. Most of us will find it very interesting, for the reason that it already started in big scale. Such companies include Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR). They have introduced their Green Portfolio Program, which can improve the environment. These four are proper usage of chemicals, disposal of waste, paper and energy and water.
Basically, the program includes Ken Mehlman, which happens to be a senior member of the KKR and the head of Global Public. Mehlman has been a longtime figure in the Republican Party. He was a campaign manager for the 2004 re-election campaign of George W. Bush before serving as chairman of the Republican National Committee from 2005 to 2007. In June 2007, Bush appointed Ken Mehlman to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. Ken Mehlman practiced environmental law for three years in Washington, D.C. and is a member of the D.C. and Maryland bars. He is a 1991 graduate of Harvard Law School and 1988 graduate of Franklin and Marshall College.
Anyway, it is nice to know that a lot of people like Ken Mehlman, who want to pursue such environmental projects. It is a good act from my point of view, but of course we must help each other. For that, we can hope that someday we will have a healthy environment for the next generations to live in.
